Nepali dances: Tappa

Namaste!
Tappa is one of the folk dances of Nepal. It is popular among the Gurung community. The dance starts in a slow manner and then the tempo gets faster and faster towards the end. It is danced to the rhythm and beating of the hand drum, called Madal.

  1. This is a totally false article. This Tappa culture belongs to Magar not Gurung. Gurung are Tibetan Origin. Gurung has nothing to do with Tappa. Tappa is a Magar culture. Gurung has copied everything from the magar cultural dances and folk songs.

    1. According to recent research, Gurung have very little Tibetan origin while Magars have significant Tibetan DNA. Even the name "Kham" is said to be from Tibet. As for the dances, I can already tell from your tone that you have an issue with Gurungs. But to your disappointment, all of these dances are shared by both communities because they live in close proximity. Some have Magar origin while some have Gurung and most are ambiguous.
